Week 1- Students diary

Here are some accounts of the students time on the first week of the residential trip. Much fun was had by all!...

Toby weir

Over the past week and a day we have done a lot. On the NCS we went to Kingswood and  then we had to get to know are way around that was quite quick to do  and the activities that we did where quite fun like the leap of faith and the camp fire that was fun because we got someone to tell jokes and say riddles.

We went to the beach but it was raining that was ok  because we still had fun but I like the challenges  that we had to do because they were fun- I like that- we had to think quite hard e.g. in the mini Olympics we had to do a lot of acting. They had a good variety of food that we could choose from and you got 3 cooked meals a day - it was a lot of fun.

Now we are on are 2nd night at Shuttleworth house and I am hoping that it will be a great week and we will have a lot of fun.

Taylor Murphy

I have really enjoyed the trip so far it has been fun spending a long time with Michael who I have known for 9 years so we are basically brothers. I would like to take this time to say thank you Claire Andrews. I enjoyed laser tag and the football table along with the food. I had to climb a 30ft high pole which I was petrified about but I did it (got 1/3rd of the way). I scratched my back in the caves which really hurt but I enjoyed it. I also went to the beach with the group until it rained which totally ruined it. The group also did a tonne of activities which were balancing the group on a massive seesaw which was hard. We also had to climb some ropes.

Michael Alves

I have enjoyed spending time with Taylor which I have known for 9 years so we are like basically brothers who can’t be separated otherwise it will not be the same. We both enjoyed laser tag it was a bit like call of duty game.

Ryan Gandiya

I had climbed up the leap of faith and Jacobs ladder, which was really fun and I was really proud of myself when I had done it. I also was crawling through the cave in the dark working together as a team with my teammates. We had done a group exercise on teamwork with balancing on a seesaw with the record time of 17 seconds. We had done another activity where we had been blindfolded working together as a team in the nightline obstacle course. For fun we had done laser tag, which was fun. We had also gone on a trampoline to play areo-ball where I had scored 5 goals against Adam. I really enjoyed the disco I got to dance to my favourite artists song Justin Bieber and had a dance with my friends and ate lots of snacks.

Chantay Maxwell-Pryce

I enjoyed Kingswood it was best part off NCS because I meet Gary he showed us round the Kingswood site I enjoyed the camp fire and the Jacobs ladder. I met Sarah and Rob they’re both a leaders at Kingswood, but I didn’t enjoy the mood because it was so cold and nasty. We did a disco on Monday night and went to the beach on Tuesday I was ill and ambulance had to come I was really scared because they had to do my sugar levels like about 3 times.

James Whitfield-Guy

I really liked the caving, I had gone right to the top of the leap of faith and was very proud of myself. I liked climbing up the Jacobs ladder, in a group we had learned to light a fire and built shelter. I liked the camp fire.

Shaunagh Lea

I liked the leap of faith. I climbed at the top of the platform and I jumped off the platform and on to the trapeze. I let go of the trapeze and I went back down in my harness. I’m not afraid of heights at all. I had a good time at Kingswood.

  1. It has been nice to read your diaries. Seems like everyone had a different favourite thing.
You have all been extremely brave to try new activities. Well done!
